lol yes XDD this is my subtle nod to diablo 2, there used to be a secret level that was filled with murder cows, walking on two legs and carrying a hatchet, and there were A TON of them XDD and the sound effects were so funny, you would just hear a ton of them going mo moo mo mo mooo mo mo XDDDDD
whimsyshire is an eyesore LOL it happened because upon releasing first previews of the game fans complained how the game was "too colorful" XD so this was the producers revenge, they made a secret level with pink unicorns and rainbows and colors to make your eyes bleed XD it was a fun attempt, it's just too bad that its not really worth playing.. there are no special items worth obtaining there. you can get a rainbow blade (1handed sword) and a prismatic hamburger (source for a wizard), but other than that nothing else special. its not a very populated level, nor are the drop rates higher either so there is no point in farming it sadly... it wouldve been better if an armor set dropped there like you had in cow lvl... i know i was trying to collect cow set for the insane magic drop and gold drop stats it had on it.
Writer (Lisa) reads background stories. Artist (sigeel) chooses best looking gear for his/her chara. Scientist (Stein) reads the manual, then experiments with builds. Engineer (me) studies the wiki for optimum equipment for level to offset chara race/class limits, then gripes about how unrealistic the weapons are in his DeviantArt blog.
(Yes, that last part is sadly true... look at my last journal entry about steampunk weapons and you'll see what I mean!)
Yeah, but I DARE you to create a female Final Fantasy XI character wearing subligar and harness without making her look like a dominatrix... Especially if you play a Mithra (i.e. catgirl). Thank goddess the developers never included whips!
I'm playing Lightning Returns and this one outfit is extremely revealing which is an outfit Lightning would never wear (if you know what kind of character she is) but it's not that good when it comes to stats (compared to what I currently have). Also in the game you can equip cat ears and tail if you like. I what it looks like in a video walkthrough, did not look good.
I like FF11 better than WoW personally, so anything I say would be a little biased... but yeah, I liked it back when I could afford it, and can't wait until I get my back bills paid down enough to rejoin. I especially liked the fact that in FF11, you can change jobs, gain a subjob after doing a quest at level 18, and can level up more than one or two crafting skills, unlike in WoW. OTOH, WoW has more races, PvP (not my thing, but to each their own), and getting gold is easier (Square-Enix is a bunch of cheapskates when it comes to giving out gold in FF11). So, my honest opinion is to give it a try and see if you like it.
I haven't played FF13 yet (can't afford a PS3 ), but I know a little about Lightning--she's supposed to be a female version of Cloud Stryfe from FF7 or Squall Leonhart from FF8 from what I understand, so I assume she's one of those rare female video game chara that actually wears real armor instead of a chainmail bikini*. Wouldn't mind seeing her as a catgirl, but then again (as my avatar implies) I have a nekomimi fetish.
*Nothing wrong with fanservice (including sexy outfits), but when you know a little about swordfighting (as I do), it tends to make a person cringe when one sees chara running into battle wearing the equivalent of a tiny bikini (if female) or a Speedo (if male). I keep thinking, "Sexy as hell, but about as much protection as tissue paper!"
FF11 is one of the online games where you have to pay? Ugh. One of the reasons why I never got WoW even though I've always wanted to get it.
Lightning, well, she's sort of like a female version of Cloud but not quite. Also she doesn't act like a jerk in the game (which Cloud does at the beginning of FF7. Trust me, that shocked me A LOT). I have FF8 but haven't started playing it yet, still need to finish other games. Lightning is also a very strong female character that is like-able in my opinion.
However I agree with you armour and sword fighting, I am a great fan of sword fighting, so naturally I'm also a fan of the armour the warriors wear. I always prefer the full body armour regardless of gender; and, yes they will just killed instantly if they don't wear the proper armour no matter how 'sexy' it looks.
Yeah, FF11 requires a monthly subscription, but IMHO it's worth it.
I know what you mean about Cloud. But later on, you see why he's as messed up as he is, and it kinda made me forgive him. I loved FF8, especially the part where Squall goes to rescue Rinoa. Very romantic! (I hate to admit that I fell in love with Rinoa the first time I played through that part...) I wish I could afford a PS3 so I could play FF13 and its sequels, because I've heard it's a really good game.
I would tell you to avoid FF14 since it's a messed up version of FF11 with better graphics, but since you don't play MMOs that require subscriptions, you don't need to worry about it. WoW has become free to play up to Lvl20 lately, from what I'm told, but then you'd have to pay every month afterward.
And as for swordfighting, have you ever seen The Princess Bride? And if so, did you love the duel between Dread Pirate Westley and Inigo Montoya as much as I did? Not only were they fencing, but they were critiquing each other's fencing styles as they did! Pure genius!
I'm right at the end of FF7 and now I like Cloud. I was so sad about Aerith, I really liked her. Squall and Cloud are in the Kingdom hearts series and I like him there (KH2 is on ps2 still). I didn't like having to fight him or Cloud though in KH1.5 remix. The first time I fought Cloud I knew I was going to lose against him, I mean I played as him in FF7, I know what powers he has.
FF13 is great, if you're playing for storyline. The sequels get better when it comes to the story but in Lightning Returns I don't like the game play because you have thirteen days to save the world and time runs shorter if you don't do side quests. Which is a pity, but I play for the story. Also, with FF15, apparently that's coming out on PS4, I don't if it'll come put on PS3 same for KH3 if you play that. Which I am so sad about.
No, I haven't seen it. I'll see if I can watch it though. Have you read The Ryria Revelations by Michael J. Sullivan? I love how he describes the sword fighting and the jousting tournament when the one character takes part in there. It's a really good fantasy series.
